Hands up if you need help with managing your spending?

If yours are waving in the air like you just don’t care, you’re not alone! Tracking and managing your spending is time-consuming and boring. Sure, we know we should do it but the effort just deters us from starting.

You can't manage what you don't measure and you can't improve upon something that you don't properly manage.

Why should I set up targets on Spending Categories?

Spending within your means starts with a goal. A target gives you focus and accountability. Setting a spending target per category makes it easier to see exactly how much you’re spending, and where, so you can budget efficiently.

It’s time to ditch the spreadsheets! Set, track, and save in one easy-to-manage place. Stopping you from overspending and helping you save!

How do setting targets for your spending categories work in the long run?

Over time you’ll learn to spend smarter, with targets helping to keep your spending within your monthly budget. Our smart alerts keep you notified of how you’re tracking and alert you when you’re close to overspending. So you know when you should cut back. It allows you to change your behavior for the better. Creating healthier spending habits.

How do Spending Categories and Spending Targets work with Douugh?

Every time you use your Spending Jar to transact, we automatically categorize your transactions for you over the month. Spending Targets take budgeting to a whole new level. By letting you set a limit you want to spend per category.

There are 34 different spending categories you can choose from, so you won’t be short of choice. If your transaction has been wrongly categorized you’re able to change this to the correct category within the list. For every new transaction of that type, we'll match it to the new category you’ve selected.

Once you’ve set a target, we’ll keep you notified with our Smart Alerts in real-time as you transact, as you hit 50% of your target, 75%, and 90% to help control your spending and avoid overspending, to stay within budget. We’ll also alert you when you’ve hit 100% of your spending limit.

How do you get set up?

Setting up targets takes seconds. Simply follow the steps below to get tracking and take control of your spending:

  • First, tap your Spending Jar tile located on your Home screen.

  • Select any of the categories you'd like to set a target for, Food & Drink Entertainment or Taxis.

  • Tap on Set Target

  • Type in the max amount you'd like to spend for that category for the month, i.e. $200, and hit Save.

  • Yeeeow! Target set. Now you can track your progress during the month and we’ll also send you push notifications along the way.

We’ve made Spending Targets visual by showing your development through the progress bar changing color. The bar changes from blue/green to yellow, to orange depending on how you’re tracking. You can tweak your targets at any time to suit your lifestyle or plans for the upcoming month.
